DNR releases final Reiter Foothills Recreation Plan
It’s official! Earlier today, the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) released the final Reiter Foothills Forest Recreation Plan. In addition, we have completed our analysis of the public comments on the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA). Progress Report
Thanks to the 56 people who came out last Sunday, April 18, to work on projects at Reiter Foothills. Work focused on restoring drainage and planting vegetation along an old route near upper May Creek and an old 4x4 route adjacent to Hogarty Creek. Thanks to everyone who helped out! Read more about work done that day on our blog at: http://bit.ly/9yhLZS
At the last focus group meeting, DNR presented the draft motorized trail concept. The focus group offered a lot of great feedback and ideas that will improve the final trail designs. Several of the focus group volunteers have been working on developing additional input to specific trail designs.
DNR is currently working on grant applications that, if successful, will help fund restoration and development of trails at Reiter.
What’s next
At the next focus group meeting on April 28, discussion will include an update to proposed motorized trails and non-motorized trail options. For more information, contact Stan Kurowski at 360-854-2855.
In May we will begin flagging the proposed motorized and non motorized trail routes in the field.
