All i have to say is WOW! What a view and what a trail system. With that being said, I guess you can say we ran it yesterday and the only thing i found wrong was the note in the poles were faling apart and could not even read them. If we had what was written on them We could get them replaced.

Not a problem, just doing my job as being apart of this group. Unless there are specific jobs for everybody, if there are i have yet to get one.

No specific jobs, except for officers. We are 100% voluntary, but we encourage all members to stay involved. We don't need dead weight, we need people like you willing to get their hands dirty so to speak. Good work and thanks for letting us know about that. When Crash gets the signs, might be time for another Index Wall trail run, huh? :D

Heck when we were there on saturday the water was 2 inches OVER the bottom of the door and according to jeep we only have a 20 inches water fording but at that height it must be more than 20". But we wouldbe willing to go back out there and try the woods route.

Kat JK, was that you with the black JK Rubi I met in the lower parking lot? I was the guy with the yellow TJ asking you all the questions about your rig.
Anyways, glad to see the steel barrier was set in the location it's now in as that allows some play on the rocks. Last time I was up there was a sign posted just in front of the rocky part of the trail saying keep out (I paraphrase). Now at least some of the rocky part of the trail is accessible.

Yes this is me. Actually as far as i know there is a sign back ferther on the trail that does NOT allow wheeling on state property and there is also a sign stating the line. You could always goto the rock garden or 3 stair or even up izzy to play on rocks.

Took me a little sweet talking/taking the ranger up there to show where I wanted to put the barrier---plus its right at there property line....

Thanks for your efforts, Crash. It's too bad we can't access the whole rest of the trail to the out look as it's is some awesome rockwork. Nonetheless, I was up there several months ago (last year?) and they had signs further back that said to go no further or risk a $120 fine. The guys I was with all stopped and parked the jeeps but after seeing the rocky part of the trail we were all wondering if we could pool our pocket change and come up with the $120 "user fee" for the last portion of the trail. We were just kidding around, however, respected the rules and just walked the last bit.
So, your efforts to move the cable barrier to the actual property line barrier are much appreciated by me and others. Thanks!
Do you or anyone else know if it would be possible to take the end of the Index Wall trail where it comes up against the barrier and creat a bite of a loop so the trail more elegantly loops back further down the approach (away from the wall). As it appears now anyone reaching the steel barrier will have to jocky around to get their rigs turned around and then they'd be working against any rigs following them (if they're in a group).
I had noticed after the water crossing that the Index Wall trail forks. You have a deep water crossing to the left and shallower water puddles to the right. Usually, in my small Jeep, I head to the right, then thread my way through the trees on a connector trail back to the Index Trail that heads to the wall. I do noticed, however, that the right hand route appears to be a road grade that keeps going out toward the wall. Any change of connecting the end of the Index Wall trail with that leg?
Would it be possible to approach any rangers about this idea and perhaps getting them to head out there to help us pick a "suitable route"?
Just throwing out thoughts.

That would be fun. But it would have to be approved by state parks.

Ouch, my typos are horrible. . .
Anyways, how receptive do you think the state parks people would be to letting the offroad 4x4 crowd completing a loop? I haven't worked directly with that group before.
