I also attached a PDF which may be easier to read.

After last night’s meeting I have some feedback and suggestions and the 1st thing to remember is to not take any of this personally as it’s not directed to any individual but to the org as a whole.

Potential directions in which the RTW might consider pursuing in order to further the agenda of the Recreational Community at Reiter:

1. A bi-weekly or monthly meeting should be set up with Candace Johnson, or someone within the office she delegates. Items that could be discussed that should be followed up on and tracked on a regular basis could include:
a. Tentative schedules
b. Finances, including grants and other areas money can come from
c. Adopting existing Volunteer programs such as what exists at Walker Valley.
d. This is the higher level business management info that revolves around cost, schedule, politics, applicable laws, resources, etc…

2. The RTW is supposed to be a non-biased Org supporting all users at Reiter.
a. A member needs to be assigned to attend regular meetings to support the local Hiking, Mountain Biking, Equestrian and Fishing community, as these areas are currently silent within the RTW.
b. Someone also needs to be meeting with local politicians and/or involved with the other orgs that are already engaged with them. Again, relying on email spam is not doing service to anyone.

3. 501C3
a. This needs to be completed, it’s something that will not only help financially for Reiter but it will also allow the RTW to gain some respect and support from outside individuals, agencies & companies.

4. Factual information that is known by the RTW regarding Reiter and related areas needs to be conveyed to the public (various user groups) as it is obtained.
a. Withholding/delaying information and/or putting your own person spin on the facts is not doing a service to anyone. Opinions, guesses and assumptions should not be included with the facts. People can and will draw their own conclusion.
b. When you provide the facts rather than opinion, or your interpretation of them, it can and will cause people to think and ask questions. This helps promote involvement at all levels.

5. The RTW needs to find a way of enlisting others within the ORV community.
a. There were 1000’s of ORV users at Reiter, many of which do not share the same moral PC opinion that those of the RTW have. The RTW needs to find a way to tap into the others without letting their moral PC opinion cloud what needs to be happening. The RTW should not be looking at changing people’s attitudes or opinions, they only need to get the message across that their help is needed and would be appreciated.

6. A larger meeting room may be needed in the near future if attendance is expected to increase

7. A whiteboard would be a worthy addition to the meeting space so that timelines and other various details could be written down so that we don’t have the same question asked over and over.

8. ???

I realize that this list looks a lot like work…and it is, but the RTW put itself out there as a representative for us all and it has become clear that your only interest is appeasing the DNR and being able to go to sleep at night with a clear conscience. Providing information to the public such as this, shows that there just may be a light at the end of the tunnel as there’s someone actually at wheel steering us all in the right direction. The items listed above need to have a name associated with them as to who within the RTW is going to be held responsible for ensuring that these items are investigated, tracked and that the public is updated on at least a monthly basis.

This is all just my opinion…

Thank You,
Brad Sybouts

A bunch of what you have listed was discussed in the later meeting last night.

Last night we came to the conclusion we are no longer a "small" enity as we started and turning into something bigger and with that there will "need" to be change.

We do know we need to work on organization and leadership--things we really have been lacking. That too was discussed last night.

We have some growing pains we will need to work through and its not going to be an overnight change. But we know the importance of that aspect now more than ever with the recent events.

A bunch of what you have listed was discussed in the later meeting last night.

On that note WTF is up with the later secret meeting? I understand electing officials that needs to be done with members only so why was this other stuf not done before closing the meeting to non members? Also is there a list of members? I get the feeling that many of the people who stayed at the later meeting were not members? All I'm saying is why would someone become a member if there is no differentiation between members and non members?

Also a quick note about my take on the meeting....
I feel RTW may be setting themselves up to be taken advantage of by the DNR with volunteer help. It may not matter to some of you but it matters to alot of people. When people feel they're taken advantage of you can expect volunteer help to drop like a rock.

You must have missed my comment "boring" about the later meeting.

It just had to do with bussiness and some matters that had to be discussed amoungst our membership--from upcoming voting to some issues as brad had mentioned.

It basicly was just related to the core membership and not meant to be a "downer" to anybody.

Brad,

Thank you very much for this input. It is exactly what we need from our members and the general public. Feedback and suggestions are critical if we are to become a bigger and better org to help with Reiter. It was also really nice to see you guys show up last night and voices your cocerns as this is needed and hopefully you felt that we all are interested in hearing your point of view on issues. I would hope that you might attend some more and hopefully see that we are changing for the better as far as most of the items on your list.

On the point of meeting with Candace, she is the overall NW region person and is not the person on the ground like David is. I attended the Tahuya focus group and it was held by Jesse Simms who is David's counterpart. Their meeting was VERY insightful and when the Reiter plan is accepted and started to be put in motion this is what David will need to take on.

I can appreciate the take on working with the "person on the ground" but unfortunately it's not enough when trying to be invloved in something that goes beyond work parties.

I can't stress enough the importance of being tied into what could be considered upper level management in order to be able to insert yourself and provide input...if you wait to get it from David you are typically too late...

This is business, and while the battle is faught in the trenches at Reiter the outcome of the war will be determined in an office with someone sitting at a desk...

There are multiple levels to this, and the guy on the ground is only one of them.

Thank you Brad and Rick, You both bring up some good points and I see RTW as a group/Organization/Business attempting to address these issue, but it is a big leap and will take a bit of time as Mike has stated, but we are taking those first necessary steps to make it happen.

You insight and input is very helpful and I for one hope you will continue to provide it.

PS: I have made this thread sticky so it stay at the top at least for the near future and as we see how things develop.

Rick,

It was not a secret meeting as you call it. It was scheduled to conduct Nominations for next years RTW Officers and the Status of the RTW By-Laws and Non-Profit Incorporation filings.

Because of some By-Law issues, some of the items you are concerned with came up for discussion on how the By-Laws should address those items. It was strictly a house keeping meeting on how RTW works and will work in the future, not anything any group would hold with the general public present.
