.....

Greetings -

The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) recently sent an invitation to an October 20 meeting to discuss several important developments regarding Reiter Foothills. This e-mail is to let you know the meeting has been re-scheduled. There is a lot of interest in the information we plan to share, and we needed a larger meeting space.
The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is hosting an informal meeting for interested recreationists who want to learn more about winter restoration and trail planning in Reiter Foothills Forest. The meeting is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., October 22 at the Park Place Middle School Commons, 1408 West Main, in Monroe.

At the October 22 meeting, you can learn more about what actions DNR will be taking in the coming months to restore the environmental health of the area and determine where trails, both motorized and non-motorized, will be located for long-term, sustainable use. The meeting will also provide you with an opportunity learn how you can volunteer to help restore the area and get involved in creating recreation opportunities.

Please forward this information to any people you shared the original invitation with.

That is a good link Crash and you guys did a good job there. For those that can find the time going and reading the committee minutes (Yes they actual have them and on-line too) for the last year or more at the DNR web site will find as I did that the Committee has been working for a method of Motorized Use at Reiter all along and way to grow the size of the area, not reduce or restrict it.

Granted I have not yet read all of the meeting minutes, but I will and so far I am just more strongly believing that DNR is trying very hard to work with us and provide what we want as best at possible.

Its really hard to read the minutes for the commitee meetings--pretty dry stuff and hard to absorb.

Here is my take on it. I didn't learn anything I did not know except its all getting shut down.

Facts--we are looking at roughly 1000 acres for motorized use--thats not hikers, mountain bikers or horse folks.

Fact--its getting shut down the 2nd temporairly--its going to reopen

Fact--its now up to us the users to make reiter what it will be.

Fact--Its your volunteer work thats going to speed up its reopening--hopefully april

Fact--this is the flagship so to speak for the development of other ORV areas.

Fact--------Its up to us. Its up to the users. Its time to get out from behind your keyboards and get involved. I don't care if its with RTW or any other organization or just yourself--its up to YOU.

Those are the facts.........

And for the last fact. I will continue to work my ass off as I have been doing to try and get the best for us the users.

I know the feeling.

Thanks for your hard work.
Stuff like this takes its toll.

Has RTW considered joining the Washington Off Highway Vehicle Alliance?

Crash - you should have come by and kicked me (or introduced yourself) at the meeting Thursday. I was the guy wearing a tie that Mark M pointed out a couple of times.

Luckily you have only had to deal with one side----the 4wd cummunity has been a lil workout too lol. But its all good and I have no regrets..

Plus I think we are getting some sort of aliance with the bike guys which I am really happy to start seeing.

As for joining Wohva--hmmmmm
