no guarantee, but I hope to make the November meeting and will try to make as many future meeting as I can...
do they have any good draft beer at Alfy's? I am micro/craft beer guy :D
Hi All:
No, not really. Of the choices available I always have a Black Butte Porter.
But, quality brewskis are not the focus - working towards preserving motorized recreation at Reiter Foothills is!
Now post-meeting we *could* head over to Fred's in old Snohomish for a tasty nightcap! :D
Regards,
Alan

A couple of questions for the DNR during the meeting, or perhaps you already have answers?
1. When is the trail designer being/consultant being hired?
2. Who is the DNR currently looking at?
3. How much is this person going to cost?
4. Where is the money coming from?
5. They are coming in as a consultant, who at the DNR has the final say in what trails get built and how?
6. How and when will the public be allowed to interact with this consultant and the DNR on how the trails get designed and built?
7. When and how many $$$ are being set aside for improving Reiter road to handle the extra Tow Rig , trailer, motorhome traffic up to the new parking area and campsites? The current road is too narrow with too many sharp corners to safely support the amount and type of traffic it will see. This is really one for the county I guess...
8. ???
I'll be in attendance.

to answer 1,2and 3 all at once. the dnr is currently having a bidding was so to say for the trail designer. so we dont know how much it will cost or who it is.
they will be a consultant.
if you want to consult you should show up to the rtw meeting and also to the dnr meeting on the 18th
as far as the road yes that is a county thing

Is anyone following up with the county from RTW or DNR about Reiter Road?
Who is actively staying engaged with the DNR regarding the consultant? Or is it just the monthly meetings if the DNR attends?

What about the road?
As for the second question the DNR has not released any information regarding it. Like us and many others we are in the dark to where the DNR sits. Most of it lays on the nov 18th meeting as I believe the public response period must be done regarding the ORV area before anything can onward.
US and other groups are patiently waiting...

What about the road?
Traffic...tow rigs...trailers...motorhomes...etc...the existing Reiter road up to the new proposed campsites/parking area is too narrow for this type of increased traffic. Accidents will increase and it poses an abvious safety risk to users.
So what is the country going to do about this?

I saw over on another board that a RTW member was asking for input on building trails as per the requirements/guidlines from various agencies such as F&W, DNR, and others.
Do we have a copy of what these "guidelines" are? Without understanding them, people running around in the woods at Reiter trying to plan new trails w/o the DNr and others there seems somewhat pointless doesn't it?
If you have them can you make them available for download on this site?

The one thing that I will point out is that some folks may question why the hell we even need answers to some of these questions?
Answering these questions forces a certain amount of interaction between the DNR & the RTW on a regular basis outside of the typical RTW meetings and/or work parties. Engaging the DNR with these questions shows that we are wanting to be invloved at a higher level and want to be eductaed as to what's going on. Beyond just forcing interaction, it takes our interaction to a higher level.
At this point in time, education is the only tool we have available to us in order to be able to insert ourselves where and when we can. We need to persistently be driving the DNR to engage with us beyond the interactions of RTW meetings & work parties.

That was mentioned but I can't remember at what time it was. As you and I know and others the road from the first pit to the deer flats turn off is not an easy road with a big load.
Here is my take on it and take it as my own opinion..
The DNR jumped the gun. The fact that they say they have a plan--but in reality dont. I am sure brad you recal the origional ORV meeting from 2 years ago and the information thats happened from then till now. With this we have one last meeting(18th of this month) that first lays the plan down and opens it up for public comment. The DNR has stipulated a rough agenda for the up and coming months but nobody has seen it just what was stated at the last meeting.
So in reality there is nothing yet.
Heck the road up to the deer flats turn off could be a major issue and alone could kill the prodject..
Hi All:
Sorry for the thread highjack, but just felt this needed to be said.
On web forums people choose cute web names, avatars, whatever you want to call 'em. For the typical BS we do on forums like NW-Wheelers, Pirate, IH8MUD.Com, etc. that is fine but on a forum like RTW I think it is totally counterproductive.
After attending RTW meetings and participating in a few work parties over the last ten months I am only sure of who four people are! Mike Kash is Crash, Kat is JKKat, Charlie is NoWires, and Ted is 98ZJ (or something like that! :D )
I really think it would make things easier for everyone who wants to get involved in RTW and the Reiter Foothills project that we knew who was saying what in forum postings, and that we could put a name and face on folks at the meetings.
That is why my forum name is Alan, which is my real name (though I've been called other things over the years, especially at boot camp! :D )
So when you post here on the RTW forum please "sign" your post with your name.
Also, perhaps at the beginning of each RTW meeting we should all introduce ourselves?
Regards,
Alan

I am not officially a member, do to I have never filled out a registration form or been voted in but I think I can help RTW out on this
1. When is the trail designer being/consultant being hired?
There is a freeze on all new contracts being signed to go out to bid at this time
2. Who is the DNR currently looking at?
They are going to pull from the Washington government services list
3. How much is this person going to cost?
It’s a bid on a job. They will post the specs and qualified bidders will bid on the work
4. Where is the money coming from?
They have money set aside for this from the 180 K
5. They are coming in as a consultant, who at the DNR has the final say in what trails get built and how?
Good Question.
6. How and when will the public be allowed to interact with this consultant and the DNR on how the trails get designed and built?
That was discussed in the DNR October public meeting
Boy… Ummmmmmm I would try and not bring this up. That could be the tool that the county needs to not grant the permit. Reiter road is wide enough to pass 2 8.5 ft trailers at any point on it. During all the creak work we had the county working on the road and we were passing dump trucks and equipment all day long. I also watched dump trucks passing dump trucks and also dump trucks with trailers passing logging trucks loaded in every area of the road between the entrance of Reiter road and the USFS road 6010. I am not saying that there isn’t room for improvement.

I thought this meeting in general went well with several people attending from Motorcycle groups and from some 4x4 groups that have not been attending.
I hope this trend with be on going and these people and others get involved and make the RTW the well rounded ORV User Group it was intended to be form the start.
Thanks everyone.
