Hi All:
I was asked to pinch-hit as the meeting minutes writer, and as I did not have any paper to take notes, here is my best recollection of what was discussed last night at the RTW July meeting. Note: [B]Mike, Don, Charlie, et al - please correct me or add to this thread as necessary.
Meeting started promptly at 7pm. David Way was present as the DNR Rep for the Reiter Foothills area. President Don was presiding but VP Kat was AWOL (something about the PNW4WDA Trail Jamboree.)
The meeting started with discussion of the recently enacted trail closures at Reiter. These closures, and some more coming in the immediate future are all focused on water quality and fish habitat (i.e. stream & creek crossings are a huge issue.)
The coming closures include two (2) upper trails (one is single-track, the other dual-track) that impact a creek (don't remember the name, Hobart??)
But, David of the DNR said [B[B]]Sac-Up is safe![B] :D
Mike (aka Crash) spoke about what had been accomplished at the last work party, and after some discussion it decided to hold the next work party on Sunday, August 2nd.
Prez Don proposed having a clean-up in October, and asked for volunteers to take on various tasks, such as trash bags, food, and promotion. Apparently a couple (don't remember their names) has already said they will provide the food for the clean-up volunteers. :)
Two or three folks spoke about either having trash bags available to donate, or access to the bags in bulk. Other needs brought-up was a handbill promoting the event (which I volunteered to create) and the need for various sundry items to support the food distribution (i.e. plates, cutlery, etc.)
There was also talk of bringing in media folks to cover the event; Charlie and David spoke of a writer at the Everett Herald they had dealt with in the past.
I don't remember a solid date ever being mentioned for the clean-up; can you refresh my memory Don?? ;)
The meeting ended with talk about the project of obtain official non-profit status for RTW. Charlie and I have done some research in what steps are involved. After some discussion the decision was made to incorporate RTW with the State of Washington as a first step, allowing the organization to work in the future toward eventual Federal tax-exempt status. Charlie said he would handle the State incorporation paperwork, and that the organization would use Mike's (Crash) home address as its registered location, though there was also talk of securing mail box at the post office.
Hope I didn't leave anything out!
